JITROIS SS27
La réponse s'appelle P.L.A.Y., pour Put Love All Around You.
Leather has long loved the half-light. Clubs, afters, nights that stretch on: its imagery was built away from the day. Jitrois is drawing back the curtains. On the official Paris Fashion Week schedule, the house presented a spring-summer 2027 collection that imagines the skin of the night at the moment the sun rises over the party.
The answer is called P.L.A.Y., for Put Love All Around You. It begins with a memory. Jean-Claude Jitrois, the inventor of stretch leather, used to host Black Leather Balls at his home on rue de Rivoli, where guests arrived in leather and in black. This time, the party spills into the street and heads for the festivals. The spirit is unchanged; only the light is different. The founder also has a deep fondness for play, shaped by his years in psychomotor therapy and psychodrama, two disciplines in which the body is freed through enjoyment. His brief to Tristan Van Bruwaene and Jay Wilson, the label's two creative directors: design clothes to play in.
The duo brought their summers home in their luggage: Barcelona, Mykonos, Tomorrowland, Paris. Out of those memories comes an indie sleaze attitude, that of girls in couture and rubber boots who are still dancing long after daybreak. The soundtrack comes from a new generation of DJs, from Charlotte de Witte to Amelie Lens. The whole thing feels like a holiday photo album, slightly blurred and very much alive. The materials, for their part, grow lighter. Each strand of fringe rests on a silk base, which gives it real movement. The embroideries, cut and made by hand, range from an openwork bolero of roses to patchworks of torn posters, like those that cover the walls of the city. A dress in multicoloured fringe nods, in passing, to Bob Mackie.
On the silhouette, the Stéphanie theme plays with contrasts: leather blouses with puffed sleeves, ruffles and ribbons, long skirts slit high on the thigh. By evening come little second-skin dresses, fitted capri pants and laced corsets. For him, the house offers chestnut suede, blue and black python, very short shorts, black stretch leather jumpsuits and a hoodie set with Swarovski crystals. Black remains the anchor and lets colour in: petal pink, denim blue, mint green, then red, fuchsia and yellow at dusk. The fringe brings them all together. Every piece, made by hand in France, carries the same generous idea: a garment that reveals the person wearing it and encourages them to reach out to others. At Jitrois, the party is a state of mind, and it wears very well in full daylight.
